Nestled in the Ellerburn valley on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, a short drive from neighbouring Thorntorn Le Dale, is Welham Park Trout Farm (Ellerburn site).

All of the ponds are gravity fed, which means we are not reliant upon mechanical pumps etc, and the water supply is reliable and pure.

The water supplying the farm comes via a stream running from Dalby Forest. The man-made header stream was created in the 1950's, along with many of the pond design features and return outlets found today on the farm.
Our Story
Local Family Farm
Welham Park Trout Farms was established in 1903 and is one of the finest restocking farms in the UK. Because of our central location, we are told by our extensive customer base that our fish do extremely well, whether they are sent North or South. We have been successfully restocking rivers, lakes, and reservoirs throughout the length and breadth of the country for over 100 years, and we can count some of the oldest and most exclusive angling clubs in the UK among our loyal customers.
The farm is located at Ellerburn, (Thornton-le-Dale), which sits on the edge of the North York Moors, nestled alongside the Dalby Forest. As you can see from the photograph above, we have without doubt one of the most wonderful and beautiful restocking farms in the country. Ellerburn farm comprises 27 ponds and lakes, some approximately 1 acre in size. The ponds are fed with 10 million gallons of water per day from the crystal-clear limestone Thornton Beck, flowing directly from Dalby Forest.
We have our own specially selected brood stock and hatchery, which is capable of holding approximately 1 million mixed brown and rainbow, ova/fry. Every fish that leaves our farm is carefully sedated and individually hand graded, so our customer receives nothing but the very best quality trout. We can supply both diploid and triploid fish, in both brown and rainbow. With our fleet of specially equipped and adapted vehicles, from pick up trucks up to a large 18-ton delivery truck, we are able to supply clients from the Southern Chalk Streams right up into the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
